Divinefire is a Christian symphonic metal band that was founded in 2004 by Jani Stefanovic and Christian Liljegren (former singer of Narnia ). With many melodic-extreme elements Divinefire is also counted as Melodic Death or Melodic Extreme Metal . Divinefire broke up in 2008 with the final album Farewell . In 2010 the former Narnia singer Germán Pascual, Christian Liljegren and Jani Stefanovic got together again and thus re-founded the band Divinefire. In 2011 Eye of the Storm appears as the first album with a new line-up.

The band is under contract with the Japanese label King Records , distribution in western countries is done by Christian Liljegren's own label Christian Music Sweden.

Due to the relatively thin line-up, guest musicians from friendly bands can often be heard on the albums.

history

The band was formed in spring 2004 when Jani Stefanovic, looking for a record deal for his then band Renascent , contacted Christian Liljegren , the owner of the record label Rivel Records (now Christian Music Sweden) and front singer of the Swedish melodic metal combo Narnia sent this a demo tape. Liljegren, who was enthusiastic about Stefanovic's recordings, then founded the Divinefire project with him, with the assistance of bassist Andreas Olsson.

In 2004 the first album Glory Thy Name was recorded. Jani Stefanovic composed the music and played guitars, drums and keyboards, Christian Liljegren wrote the lyrics, Andreas Olsson also helped with the vocal arrangements. In addition, many guest musicians were hired for the CD. The album was released in December 2004 in Japan and South Asia via King Records; January 2005 the album was released in Europe on Christian Liljegren's own label Rivel Records.

At the same time they started working on the second album Hero , which was released in Asia in September 2005 and in Europe in November 2005. This album followed the style of Glory Thy Name , but used more symphonic elements and also included a cover version of Queen's hit show Must Go On .

In autumn 2005 the band put together a live line-up and played concerts in Japan and at the Nordic Fest (Norway). The third album Into a New Dimension was released in September 2006 in a special edition in Japan and in November 2006 in the rest of the world.

In 2008, Farewell, the band's last album until 2011, was released. The band broke up, but reunited with a new line-up in 2010.

Besides Divinefire, Jani Stefanovic also plays in the bands Miseration and Essence of Sorrow. He also played guitars on Crimson Moonlight's third album . Andreas Olsson played alongside Divinefire with Narnia and in Rob Rock's band .

style

The group plays Power Metal with both melodic and more aggressive elements. The tempos are sometimes very fast, the guitar solos are more technical. Keyboards and symphonic elements are dominant. The newer album also mixes elements of progressive metal . In the latest album Eye of the Storm , songs like To Love and Forgive also feature elements that can be assigned to medieval metal . The lyrics deal exclusively with Christian content and are based heavily on white metal from the 1980s.
