The Dixey rock is a 25 m high cliff in the group of the Danger Islands before the eastern end of Joinville Island at the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises from the sea 2.5 km southeast of Darwin Island .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey conducted surveys between 1953 and 1954 and between 1956 and 1958. In addition, aerial photographs were taken during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the cliff on June 11, 1980 after David John Dixey (* 1937), head of Nautical Branch 5 of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office .
