Diyojen ( Ottoman : دیوژن; İA : Diyojen ; German : "Diogenes") was the first Ottoman-language satirical magazine of the Ottoman Empire . The first edition was published in Istanbul on November 24, 1870 by Teodor Kasap (1835-1897), a satirist . It appeared weekly in three volumes and was finally banned in 1873 after a total of 183 issues. In addition to satirical articles, the magazine was known for its caricatures and translations of French literature.
