Djamila Taís Ribeiro dos Santos (born August 1, 1980 in Santos , São Paulo state ) is a Brazilian Afro-Brazilian black feminist , journalist and philosopher. She studied political philosophy at the Universidade de São Paulo , where she wrote her master's thesis on the work of Simone de Beauvoir and Judith Butler .

In May 2016, she was appointed Vice-Secretary for Human and Civil Rights in the São Paulo City Council during the tenure of City Prefect Fernando Haddad .

She wrote the foreword to civil rights activist Angela Davis' book Women, Race and Class . Ribeiro has worked with Davis on a number of other occasions.

Ribeiro is also a blogger and internet activist . She spoke as a civil society representative at the Brazil Conference at Harvard University in 2018.
