The in Aurès or -Gebirge in the Saharan Atlas located Djebel Chélia ( Arabic جبل شيليا) is - after the extinct volcanic mountains in the Hoggar Mountains in the south of the country - with a height of almost 2300  m , the second or third highest mountain range in Algeria . Some sources give the exact value 2331  m , others 2328  m .

location

The mountain is about 70 km (driving distance) southeast of the provincial capital Batna in northeast Algeria. The mountain and its surroundings form its own national park, the Parc National de Chélia .

tourism

The mountain can be climbed in summer and winter. In winter it forms the center of a snow-sure ski area.
