Inscription with the name of the queen (lower center) |
Djefatnebti was the name of an ancient Egyptian queen of the 3rd dynasty who, according to Günter Dreyer, was perhaps in a relationship with King ( Pharaoh ) Huni .
supporting documents
The only so far certain evidence of a queen with this name is a clay beer mug that was found on Elephantine . It's written in black ink . A total of three labeled jugs were found. The first inscription on the first jug names the year of a escort of Horus and the construction of a building, the name of which, however, has not been preserved. The second inscription names another escort of Horus as well as the “11. Time of the estimate of Heliopolis ”. The third inscription names the year of the appearance of the king of Upper and Lower Egypt , the "3. Mark of Fighting the Robbers ”and mentions the death of Queen Djefatnebti. Said estimates (tax surveys) took place every two years, so the inscription dates to the 22nd year of the reign of the unnamed ruler. The inscription therefore probably comes from the years shortly before or shortly after. Since, according to an interpretation by Günter Dreyer, no other king than Huni ruled for more than 22 years during the 3rd dynasty, he assigns Djefatnebti to this ruler as his wife. However, its interpretation is not generally accepted as the inscriptions do not explicitly mention Huni.
identity
Almost nothing is known about the identity of the Djefatnebti. The jug inscription only gives her the title “ Weret-hetes ” (in German “Die Grosse des Hetes-Scepters”), which is a typical queen title of the Old Kingdom . Further information about this person is missing. Her burial place is also unknown.
