Dmitri Georgievich Dmitriev

Dmitri Georgijewitsch Dmitrijew ( Russian Дмитрий Георгиевич Дмитриев , English transcription Dmitriy Dmitriyev ; born March 3, 1956 in Leningrad ) is a former Soviet long-distance runner .

Life

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was fourth over 5000 m . The following year he set a Soviet record over 3000 m with 7: 42.05 min , but was unable to start at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of the boycott of the Eastern Bloc countries . In the alternate friendship competitions, he won silver over 5000 m.

In 1980 he became the Soviet champion over 1500 m , from 1980 to 1983 four times in a row Soviet champion over 5000 m.
