Dmitri Nikolayevich Anuchin
Dmitri Nikolayevich Anuchin ( Russian Дмитрий Николаевич Анучин * August 27 . Jul / 8. September 1843 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † 4. June 1923 in Moscow ) was a Russian geographer , ethnologist and anthropologist .
In 1867 he graduated from Moscow University, where he taught anthropology from 1880 and was appointed professor in 1884. He set up the Museum of Anthropology and headed the Institute of Geography. In 1890 he became president of the Association of Lovers of Natural History, Anthropology and Ethnography in Moscow. From 1896 he was a member of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg .
In 1915 he published the first thorough account of Humboldt's Russian-Siberian journey of 1829 .
The Anutschin Glacier in Antarctica and a moon crater are named after him.
