Eilif Armand

Eilif Armand (actually Eilif Armand Andreassen ; born March 18, 1921 in Bergen ; † November 28, 1993 ibid) was a Norwegian actor , poet and literary critic .

Life

Armand was the son of the merchant Sverre Andreassen . His mother, Maggi Sørensen , died in 1922. Armand initially worked as a journalist . In 1946 he made his debut as an actor at the Bergen Theater Den Nationale Scene in Nordahl Griegs Barrabas in the role of Jesus . From 1956 to 1958 he worked in Stavanger , then until 1975 at the Nationaltheatret in Oslo . Then he returned to Bergen. In addition to his work at the theater, he was also seen in a few films.

Since 1947 he has also worked as a literary critic for various newspapers, including the Bergen daily Bergens Tidende and the party organ of the NKP , the newspaper Friheten . He also published satirical poems in this newspaper. In 1951 a selection of his poems appeared in book form under the title Ingen blir klok av skade .

Armand had been married to Elisabeth Dingen since 1944 . The couple had four daughters, the actresses Frøydis , Merete and Gisken and the children's author Yngvil Armand .
