Dobroslav Chrobák (born February 16, 1907 in Hybe , Austria-Hungary , today Slovakia ; † May 16, 1951 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) was a Slovak naturalistic writer, essayist, publicist and literary critic.

Life

Chrobák studied at the grammar schools of Rožňava and Liptovský Mikuláš . During his studies in Liptovský Mikuláš he made his debut at the age of 17 with the story Les (Forest). He also studied literature at the Czech Technical University in Prague before graduating there in 1934. After returning to Slovakia, he first worked as a university professor, then as an editor at the Czechoslovak Radio, and in his final years was the head of the Slovak part of the country.

He died of cancer in Bratislava and is buried in the birthplace of Hybe.
