Doina Rotaru

Doina Rotaru (born September 14, 1951 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian composer.

Rotaru studied composition with Tiberiu Olah from 1970 to 1975 at the National Music University in Bucharest . She gave courses at the Gaudeamus composers workshop in Amsterdam (1990 and 1992) and the Darmstadt Summer Courses (1990, 1992 and 1994). Since 1997 she has been Professor of Composition at the National Music University of Bucharest.

For her compositions she has received several prizes from the Romanian Composers Union, the prize from the Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences and first prize at the GEDOK competition in Mannheim in 1998.
