Doll & The Kicks were a pop rock band from Brighton , England. The singer Hannah Scanlon ("Doll") founded the band in 2005 with friends and fellow students at college. In 2007 the band performed at the Glastonbury Festival . In 2008 they were presented as "Tip for the Top" on MTV . From April to July 2009 "DATK" supported the British singer Morrissey at around 60 concerts during his "Years of Refusal" tour. Morrissey had previously seen the band perform in London and then invited them to fully accompany his European tour. After several concerts of their own as part of their "Headline" tour, DATK were again the opening act for Morrissey during his "Swords" tour with 28 dates in Europe and the USA until December 2009. The magazine Visions attested a live performance of the band "snotty vocals and perfectly played melodies" and compared the singer with "Cindy [sic!] Lauper on speed". In 2010 and 2011 DATK toured particularly in Great Britain, performed in Germany at the Uelzen Open R and Eckernförde Strand Festival and in the USA at the SXSW Festival in Texas . In October 2011 DATK announced their separation because the band saw no development prospects in their 7th year without a record deal.
