The dolmen of Garde-Épée is located in the south of the D 157 road a few meters from the Rocher de la Vache dolmen , east of Saint Brice near Cognac in the Charente department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The Garde-Épée dolmen is a large dolmen with a chamber about 4.0 meters long, 3.0 meters wide and 2.0 meters high. It has a single large capstone that has broken in two but is still in place. The larger western part has several bowls ( French Pierres aux écuelles or pierre à cupules ). The dolmen has two lateral bearing stones on the south side, one in the north (the other is missing) and an end stone in the east. The endangered dolmen was secured by foreign stones.

The dolmen is dated to around 3500 BC. And was classified as a Monument historique in 1926 .
