Dolmen del Collado de los Bastianes

The Dolmen del Collado de los Bastianes (also called Dolmen de Otíñar or Dolmen del Cerro Veleta ) is located on the Cerro Veleta hill south of Jaén in Andalusia in Spain . The necropolis there consists of several burial mounds , although the most famous structure is a dolmen , the mound of which has completely disappeared.

The structure consists of a recessed, roughly rectangular chamber made up of six orthostats and the split capstone. The large, once possibly circular, horizontally lying capstone has dimensions of 2.7 × 1.7 m. The walls of the chamber consist of almost rectangular, standing stones that are between 1.4 and 0.7 m wide. The average thickness of the approximately 1.0 m high stones is 30 cm.

Shattered pottery and bones, including a jaw , were found in the dolmen, which was looted several times .
