Theophil Ischer

Theophil Ischer (* 1885 in Nidau ; † January 15, 1954 in Bern ) was a Swiss teacher and prehistorian .

After years as a teacher , Ischer received his doctorate in 1913 and, over decades of occupation with pile dwellings on Lake Biel, became the “pioneer of pile dwelling research” in Switzerland. From 1937 to 1940 he was President of the Swiss Society for Prehistory . From 1942 to 1954 he was President of the Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory in Switzerland .
