Willem Hendrik Zwart

Willem Hendrik Zwart (born May 26, 1925 in Zaandam ; † April 29, 1997 ) was a Dutch organist and composer .

Life

Willem Hendrik Zwar was a son of the organist and composer Jan Zwart and his wife Catharina. He received his first musical training from his father, then from Simon C. Jansen , George Stam , Willem Mudde and Herman Strategier . In 1945 he became organist at the Reformed Church in Coevorden and, after a brief interlude at the Zionskirche in Groningen, in 1954 at Bovenkerk in Kampen with the organ built by Albertus Antonius Hinsz in 1743 .

Zwart gave numerous concerts at home and abroad. In 1971/72 and 1973 he went on concert tours to the United States and Canada. As one of the first Dutch organists, he also played for TV recordings.

family

In 1956 Zwart married Johanna Margaretha Hofland. His son Everhard (* 1958) followed him in his career as an organist, his son Jan Quintus (* 1957) is a conductor and runs the music label JQZ Muziekproducties in Kampen.
