Distribution of dolmens in Maine-et-Loire - preserved structures are green

The Dolmen des Mollières (also called "Beauvau dolmen" or "Molieres Dolmen") is located on the Route de Marcé, west of the hamlet of Beauvau near Angers in the Maine-et-Loire department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

location

The well-preserved polygonal dolmen consists of a straight ceiling plate, which is supported by five bearing stones. The dolmen has a chamber about 4.0 × 2.0 m in size, which is crowned by a capstone about 5.0 × 3.0 m in size. The dolmen of Molières was still in the middle of the 19th century in a small, now abandoned village. Originally it was completely closed. The current approach is probably not original; the original one was probably in the southeast.

Many other stones lie near the megalithic complex, which was perhaps much larger.

Nearby is the Dolmen du Bois de la Pidoucière .
