The Dolmen du Bois del Rey is located in the woods north of the village of Martiel in the Aveyron department , Occitania region in southern France. In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The large simple dolmen ( French dolmen simple ) is a massive table, the approximately 4.0 m long and 3.0 m wide capstone of which has broken into two parts, but still rests on the four supporting stones. The four side stones, also made of conglomerate , slowly crumble. The end stone is still in place and there are remains of a faceplate.

Just a few dozen meters west of the dolmen is a large, flat rock slab ( Bassin de Bois-del-Rey in French ) with a porthole about 40 cm in diameter and 10 cm deep.

The dolmen of Marie-Gaillard and Dolmen du Bois de Galtier are nearby . The dolmens in the Aveyron often occur in groups and 92% of all dolmens are made of limestone slabs .
