Dolmen of Tuchenn Pol

The complex dolmen of Tuchenn Pol (also called Dolmen du Tertre Tuchenn Pol, Lann-Porz-Menech or Site mégalitique de Kerham) is located on both sides of the "Route de Kerpape" road, about 350 m south of the village of Kerhan and south of Ploemeur im Morbihan department in Brittany in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The complex is a presumably Iron Age monument known from the archives of the commander Le Pontois, who excavated the area in 1891, and was rediscovered and partially excavated in 2004.

Despite the poor condition of the peninsula compared to the so-called "Tumuli à muret circulaire" ("Hills with round walls") and the absence of charcoal or burned bones, it seems possible to see the monument from the early Iron Age (6th century BC) .), in which before the development of Hallstatt D3 and La Tène A, body burial predominated in western Brittany.

The monument consists of three large and two smaller hills with a well-preserved dolmen made up of several partially paved chambers. The Tuchenn Pol ( French Butte du Diable ) is a hill about 27.0 m in diameter, which has a rectangular dolmen with a sloping paved corridor in the southeast and ancillary chambers in two corners, one in the north, the other in the northeast. All bearing stones of the secondary chambers (9) and the corridor (11) and 11 bearing stones of the main chamber (at least two are missing) have been preserved.

In particular, polished axes and beads made of jadeite and variscite were found . The dolmen had six engraved stones and one cup stone . At least two engraved stones have been removed and are now in the Saint-Germain-en-Laye museum . Those that remained on the site fell victim to looters in the late 20th century.

The dolmen on the other side of the road (Tertre Tuchenn er Grouc'h) is covered in bushes. To the south of the long hill of about 34.0 × 12.0 m are a few scattered stones. The third hill measures approximately 45.0 × 25.0 m. It should be noted that the concentric stone circle of around 8.0 and 12.0 m in diameter and the three small hills have not been explored.
