Dolor ( lat. Pain ) is a German-speaking rock band from Naumburg an der Saale , which is assigned to the New German Hardship due to its stylistic proximity to bands like Rammstein .
history
Dolor was founded in 1998 by Steve Gain as a single project. In the years 2000 to 2003, Dolor was largely inactive. Due to the desired stage presence, Steve Gain called Dolor back to life and formed a live band. Tours followed, various festivals in Germany as the opening act for greats such as Umbra et Imago , Tanzwut , Zeraphine and In Extremo . The start of the tour with Unheilig in 2005 was accompanied by a club tour of the debut album of the same name, Come to Me . In 2006, Dolor reached second place in the Battle Of The Bands competition organized by the scene magazine Sonic Seducer . In 2007 they recorded a. a. the Wave Gothic meeting . This was followed by other concerts as the opening act for bands like Last Instance and Eisbrecher . In 2010, after a long break from the stage, the second album Tanz der Schatten was released , which was followed by a series of concerts. Due to a severe injury to Steve Gains, the stage presence was largely dispensed with in 2011. According to their own information, the band was working on new material at the time. Since the last concert in Naumburg in July 2013, there has been no news from the band.
style
The creative mind of the band's founder Steve Gain, who is solely responsible for the lyrics, compositions and vocals of the band. Vocally, he is strongly reminiscent of Till Lindemann , not only because of the rolling R , but also because of a similar low pitch in the voice. To this day, Dolor have remained much more electronic than well-known representatives of the genre. The guitars only make a secondary contribution to the sound, although they help to determine the rhythm with a powerful force .
