Dominik Enste (born October 27, 1967 in Arnsberg ) is a German economist .

Life

After completing his training as a banker, Enste studied economics with a focus on sociology at the University of Cologne from 1990 to 1996 and at the University of Dublin - Trinity College from 1992 to 1993 in Ireland. From 1996 to 2001 he worked as a research assistant at the economic policy seminar at the University of Cologne and did his doctorate on the subject of "shadow economy and institutional change". In 1998 he was a Research Scholar at the invitation of James M. Buchanan at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

After two years as assistant to a holding board at Gerling in Cologne with responsibility for fundamental questions of "Human Resource Management", he was responsible for the research field "Institutional Economics / Business Ethics" at the Institute of German Economy in Cologne from 2003 to 2014 2014 also headed. Since 2015 he has been head of the field of competence for behavioral economics and business ethics. Since 2012 he has been managing director and lecturer at the Academy for Integral Economics (IW Akademie GmbH) in Cologne.

Enste has been a lecturer at the University of Cologne since 2007 . He has been a lecturer at the University of Bonn since 2018 . Since 2013 he has been Professor of Business Ethics and Institutional Economics at the Technical University of Cologne . His main research interests are business and business ethics; Undeclared work and shadow economy , corporate social responsibility as well as market economy and mora, business psychology , behavioral economics ; Trust as an economic factor, differences in thinking between economists and laypeople, legal and institutional economics; Regulatory policy , influence of regulation, third sector, charities, care market job prospects up to 2050.

In the FAZ economists ranking , Enste was one of the 100 most influential economists in Germany in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
