Dominique Laroche (* 1960s in Québec , Québec ) is a former Canadian freestyle skier . He started in all disciplines and had his strengths in aerials (jumping). In the World Cup he reached nine podium places. His brothers Yves , Alain and Philippe were also active as freestyle skis.
Dominique is the second of seven children of the architect Guy Laroche (1930–?) And his wife Suzanne (née Grondin, 1931–2017) from Lac-Beauport . With three of his brothers he spearheaded the so-called " Québec Air Force ". His younger sister Lucie was an active ski racer .
He contested his first freestyle competition in Tignes in 1979 and immediately landed third on the podium. In the first season in 1980 he made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup . He achieved first top results in jumping, but was also able to classify himself in the points in ballet and in combination. He achieved his first podium in March 1980 with third place in his favorite discipline in Tignes. In 1980/81 he managed three more third places and finished the discipline classification as third. He also reached career highs in the ballet and moguls rankings. In his third and final World Cup season, he was able to book five podium places, including his only second place ( Mont Sainte-Anne ) and his only one in the combination ( Livigno ). Then he ended his active career in competitive sports.
After retiring, Laroche first took a few courses at Laval University and then worked as a commentator, presenter and participant in freestyle shows. Today he is active as a real estate agent . He is married and has three daughters.
