The Don Camillo Choir is a mixed jazz and pop choir from Munich . The ensemble is led by Matthias Seitz.

history

The ensemble was founded in 1994 as a youth choir. The choir now consists of around 38 singers.

repertoire

The repertoire of the Don Camillo Choir mainly includes jazz ballads, swing standards and cleverly arranged a cappella hard rock.

Appearances and awards

National and international competitions and festivals have taken the Don Camillo Choir to Mainz (Vocal Jazz Summit) and Marktoberdorf (Musica Sacra International) as well as to Austria (vokal.total) , Denmark (Aarhus Vocal Festival) and Poland (Międzynarodowy Festiwal Chóralny Wschód) - Zachód - Zbliżenia Radomsko) .

At the International A Cappella Competition in Graz in 2006 the choir was awarded a 2nd prize and the Ward Swingle Award. At the World Choir Games in Graz, in which 440 choirs from 93 countries took part, the ensemble achieved 2nd place in the jazz category in 2008 and was awarded a gold medal for this.

In 2009 the choir won the Bavarian Choir Competition in the category “Jazz a-cappella etc.” under the direction of its then choir director Florian Helgath and was thus invited to take part in the 2010 German Choir Competition in Dortmund . There the choir achieved a 3rd prize and was awarded the title “Participated with outstanding success”. In 2013, the ensemble again took first place in the Bavarian Choir Competition.
