Donald E. Gordon

Donald Edward Gordon (born May 13, 1931 in New York City , † April 10, 1984 in Pittsburgh ) was an American art historian known for his Kirchner catalog raisonné.

Gordon graduated from Harvard University , where he received his doctorate in 1960 . He worked as a postdoc at the Universities of Hamburg and Marburg and at the Central Institute for Art History . In 1963 he became an associate professor at Dickinson College . In 1968 he published the first major monograph on Kirchner in English. It has also been translated into German and contains a complete catalog of works. In 1969 he became a full professor at the University of Pittsburgh .
