Donald Phillip Verene

Donald Phillip Verene (born October 24, 1937 in Galesburg , Illinois ) is an American philosopher and professor at Emory University in Atlanta , Georgia .

Live and act

Verene received his PhD from Washington University in 1964 and was Dean of the Department of Philosophy at Emory University from 1982 to 1988 . His work focuses on cultural philosophy and metaphysics, the relationship between philosophy and literature and rhetoric, as well as historically German idealism and Italian humanism . Verene dealt in particular with Ernst Cassirer , Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Giambattista Vico . He has published about twelve books and 200 articles.
