The Schwabelweis Danube Bridge is a 518 m long road bridge in Regensburg , which spans the Danube at river kilometer 2376.32 and was built between 1979 and 1981.

The Schwabelweis Danube Bridge was built as part of the Regensburg Osttangente. In the area of the Danube crossing, the road layout shows a curvature in the southern foreland area, the Danube is crossed at an angle of 56 °. The road bridge has three lanes in each direction of travel and a footpath and bike path on the east side. In 2004 the overpass had a traffic load of 43,800 vehicles per day.

The Osttangente, which runs over the bridge, now bears the name of Regensburg's Ukrainian twin city and is called Odessa-Ring .

construction

The 518.33 m long bridge consists of the steel river bridge and foreland bridges on both sides, which are separated from the main bridge by group piers. The southern approach bridge has six openings with spans of 40.6 m and 40.67 m in the end spans and 41.11 m in the inner spans. The northern approach bridge has two openings, each with a 30.88 m span. The superstructure has separate T-beam cross- sections with six webs each for both carriageways. The individual beams were manufactured as pre-tensioned prefabricated parts.

The river bridge has a span of 207.06 m, making it one of the longest tied arch bridges in Germany. The free-standing arches, which are arranged at a center distance of 27.9 m, have a pitch of 31.8 m and are offset in the longitudinal direction of the bridge due to the inclined bridge support. They have a closed box girder cross-section 3.0 m wide and 1.1 m high. The loads of the bridge superstructure are guided from the main girders into the arches with 15 hangers each, which are arranged at a distance of 12.18 m and have a rectangular cross-section. The steel superstructure has an orthotropic deck slab with a transverse gradient of 2.5%. The height of the full-walled main girders is therefore different and is 3.6 m on the west side of the bridge and 3.9 m on the east side. The main girders are connected every 4.06 m by cross beams with an average height of 1.5 m.

The river bridge was completely assembled in the northern foreland area and then pushed in across the Danube with the help of ships .
