Dongargarh is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
The city is part of the Rajnandgaon district . Dongargarh has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 21 wards . It had 37,372 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census , of which 18,740 were men and 18,632 women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 87.6%, above the national average. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 75%. Buddhists form a minority with a share of around 12%.
