Dongshan (Zhangzhou)

Dongshan ( Chinese  东山 县 , Pinyin Dōngshān Xiàn ) is a district and at the same time an archipelago that consists of the main island Dongshan Dao (东山岛) and 44 minor islands. Dongshan County is part of the prefecture-level city of Zhangzhou in southeast China's Fujian Province . It was established in 1993 as a tourist zone with preferential conditions for foreign investments and, along with Xiamen and Xiasha, is one of the most famous seaside resorts in the province.

Dongshan has an area of ​​248.9 km² and about 200,000 inhabitants (2001). The seat of the county government is the large community Xipu (西 埔 镇). The district is made up of six large municipalities.
