The Thunder Valley is a small, mainly ice-free valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is north-northeast of Mount Thundergut .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the valley based on the name of Mount Thundergut after the German word Donner for the English equivalent thunder .
