Donald "Donny" Drew Lalonde (born March 12, 1960 in Victoria , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian professional boxer and former WBC light heavyweight champion.

Boxing career

From 1977 to 1980 he boxed with the amateurs and won 11 out of 15 fights. He then switched to the professionals and beat Roddy MacDonald (24-2) and Carlos Tite (23-1) prematurely in his build-up phase. After winning points against Mustafa Hamsho (42-3) in May 1987, he boxed for the vacant WBC title against Eddie Davis (34-5) in November 1987 in Port of Spain and won in the second round. In May 1988 he defended the title through tKo in the fifth round against ex- WBA world champion Leslie Stewart (26-2).

In November 1988 he lost the title in Las Vegas by a premature loss to Sugar Ray Leonard (34-1). In May 1992 he was also defeated in the fight for the WBA cruiserweight championship against Bobby Czyz (39-5). He resigned in 1998, but returned to the ring in 2002. He finally ended his playing career after losing points to Virgil Hill (48-4) in July 2003.
