Doodle Jump is a video game by Lima Sky for iOS as well as for the Android platform and Windows Phone 8.1 . In addition, in addition to the original version, there are now reproduced versions, e.g. B. for mobile phones with Symbian from S60 3rd Edition and Blackberry OS. There are also different versions for the PC with Windows installed . Versions have also been released for the Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 . It was already the most downloaded application in five countries : USA, France, Austria, Spain and Germany. In June 2010 Doodle Jump received the Apple Design Award .
Gameplay
The goal in Doodle Jump is to get higher and higher on an endless series of platforms with the doodler , a four-legged yellow-green creature, without falling down (platforms that have disappeared from the picture below are no longer existent). By moving the device, the doodler jumps in the desired direction. In the game you can come across so-called power ups , such as a spring, a trampoline, a propeller hat or a jetpack , which gives you certain advantages. You also have to shoot monsters with bullets by tapping the screen.
From version 2.0 there is a multiplayer mode with which two players can compete against each other via the Game Center .
During the game, the players' scores are displayed on the left. There are local, "friends" and global leaderboards in the game. The player can show his values on Facebook and Twitter .
Updates and modifications
Since May 22nd, 2009 there is a version in which the doodler can be exchanged for a "pygmy" from Pocket God (another iPhone game). If you enter the name "Boo", the doodler changes to a ghost and the background turns black, entering "Creeps" (also another iPhone game) as the player name changes the appearance of the monsters and the name changes to "Ooga" or "Nooby" changes the player's character into a caveman. In addition, changes to the environment were added in the last updates, so from version 1.13 a "snow mode" can be activated, with update 1.14 a "jungle scenario" was introduced. With update 1.16 there was also a “space mode” and with version 1.17 from April 4, 2010 an “Easter special” (which was jokingly called “Easter Easter egg update”) was published. Version 1.20 with a soccer scenario was released on June 4, 2010 in line with the 2010 soccer World Cup . With version 1.21 there is an underwater theme in which the doodler looks like a diver. Version 1.25 has also been available since the end of October 2010, in which the doodler hops through a Halloween world as a Frankenstein's monster.
A special adapted version for the iPad called "Doodle Jump HD" was released in September 2011.
A new version of Doodle Jump for Android appeared in March 2013. This is now being developed by Lima Sky itself, is free of charge and financed by advertising. The advertising can be removed with an in-app purchase.
Doodle Jump Christmas Special
A Christmas version was released in December 2011, but it is not an update, but a purchase version. New here are permanent snow and icy gusts of wind that freeze the jumper from the side, as well as small balls that don't kill him, just throw him off track.
Doodle Jump: HOP The Movie
On April 16, 2011, a 25-level, free special version of Doodle Jump to the film Hop - Easter Bunny or Superstar? released. The player takes on the role of EB, the son of the Easter Bunny.
Reviews
Doodle Jump received mostly good reviews. Computer Bild praised the game for its simple gameplay and the many updates. The game also received a lot of approval thanks to the simple graphics and the addictive potential.
