Hop - Easter Bunny or Superstar? (Original title: Hop ) is an American Easter film and a combination of animation and real film . The film had its theatrical release on March 31 in Germany and on April 1, 2011 in the United States.
action
The Easter Bunny underground candy factory is located on Easter Island . His son EasterBunny ("EB"), however, has no desire to follow in his father's footsteps and later become an Easter Bunny himself. Therefore he beams himself to Hollywood, where he meets the somewhat work-shy Fred O'Hare and lodges himself in a luxury villa that he is supposed to look after. Meanwhile, however, his father sends three ninja bunnies, the so-called pinks , to Hollywood to track down EB and bring him back to Easter Island. But EB always manages to escape the Pinks, getting Fred, who is now looking for a job at his father's command, into serious trouble.
Meanwhile, the head Easter chick Carlos is seizing the opportunity on Easter Island and trying to seize power and become an Easter Bunny himself. EB, whose passion is the drums, is meanwhile taking part in the casting of the television show Hoff knows Talent , the American version of Das Supertalent , and enthuses showmaster David Hasselhoff, who says “ I don't like it. I love it! “Gets carried away. However, the appearance in the show is canceled because EB has to go back to Easter Island in order to prevent the puffed up Easter chick Carlos, who has since mutated into a rabbit in yellow fluff, from seizing power together with Fred. They manage to do so, and this year EB and Fred are jointly bringing the sweets to the children in the USA and the rest of the world for Easter.
production
The film was made on a budget of $ 63 million. The figure EB was created by Peter de Sève . The computer animations are a work of the Rhythm & Hues Studios in Los Angeles.
Reviews
The film got 5.3 out of 10 stars in the IMDb film database and 26 percentage points on Rotten Tomatoes .
“EB [...] is actually emblematic for all big children who don't want to grow up, but somehow have to. It is a shame that the figure never gets any depth and always only uses the templates intended for it, because it fizzles out a more lasting effect, which does not reduce the joy of looking at it. So "Hop - Easter Bunny or Superstar?" Is a successful seasonal film fun for children of all ages, which you can see that it has no after-effects. "
“Lovingly staged family entertainment that puts the little ones in the Easter mood and amuses the grown-ups with witty allusions and the voices of Alexander Fehling , Wolfgang Stumph and Detlev Buck . Rating: Particularly cute. "
"Garfield 2" director Tim Hill serves a child-friendly mix of animation and real film, in which a computer-animated Easter bunny hops through Beverly Hills. The hero is the little long-eared EB […]. [...] The variation of “Alvin and the Chipmunks” is nicely animated, but only moderately funny - the best joke is typically contributed by guest star David Hasselhoff . Please no continuation! "
“Disillusionment and incomprehension about the fact that nowadays one apparently no longer takes the time to work out good stories and fill them with life accordingly. Rather, one relies on ever better animations and the cuddle factor, which is supposed to ensure ringing tills. Of course, children will definitely have fun with the cute bunny, but children's stories should - and can - offer more than just cute talking animals. It is more worthwhile to fall back on classics. "
The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
