Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Joy Handler (born February 25, 1975 in Livingston , New Jersey ) is an American comedian , actress , writer and producer .

Career

After starting out as a stand-up comedian in the late 1990s, Chelsea Handler became known to a larger television audience from 2004 onwards through appearances on shows such as Girls Behaving Badly and The Bernie Mac Show . During this time, she also worked as a commentator in formats such as 101 Craziest TV Moments . In 2006, two seasons of the sketch show The Chelsea Handler Show were broadcast on E! Entertainment Television , during which time she was also the Tonight Show correspondent . She hosted the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards as the first woman in 16 years in the history of the awards ceremony. From 2007 to 2014, Handler hosted her own late-night show Chelsea Lately on E! Entertainment television. Also at E! From 2011 to 2013 the mockumentary After Lately, which was co-developed and produced by Handler, was about the happenings at Chelsea Lately.

Chelsea Handler has published five books to date, four of which reached # 1 on the New York Times bestseller list .

On January 11, 2012, the first episode of the sitcom Are You There, Chelsea? at NBC . The sitcom's title and some characters were based on her second book, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea originated. She played the older sister of the main character Chelsea Newman , played by Laura Prepon . She was also involved as a producer on the sitcom. On May 11, 2012, NBC announced that the sitcom had been canceled.

Since May 11, 2016, Chelsea Handler has been streaming their new talk show Chelsea three times a week (Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays) on the Netflix streaming platform . 90 half-hour episodes are currently planned. For the streaming provider Netflix, it is the first talk show since video-on-demand was offered in 2007.
