Doom: VS is a Swedish funeral Doom project by Draconian guitarist Johan Ericson.

history

In 2004, Ericson started the project because he wanted to record slower and heavier Doom Metal that didn't fit Draconian . The name Doom: VS is derived from the Latin "domus" for "house", which should stand with the additional "o" for "House of Doom". Ericson plays all the instruments, sings all the voices and does the artwork . He is also solely responsible for the compositions, as he has not yet been able to find a musician who shares his idea of music. The first demo in 2004 led to a record deal for two albums with the Finnish independent label Firedoom , a sub-label of Firebox .

In 2006 the debut album Aeternum Vale was released , which received mostly positive reviews. The second album Dead Words Speak , released in 2008, was just as well received . Although Ericson plans to release more albums, but excludes live performances.

style

The Doom Metal played by Doom: VS is similar to that of Draconian . The sound is characterized by sluggish downtempo metal with complex song structures and a gloomy mood. Here, change growls and clean vocals from. Ericson names bands like Mourning Beloveth and Candlemass as main influences .
