Double connection

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the period from 1980 to 1995, a special telephone connection of the Deutsche Bundespost , which had two analogue channels , was called a double connection .

The double connection was made through a double junction box, e.g. B. VDo4 / 4 or TAE 6 NFF with two pairs of wires each , connected and could thus be independent z. B. for telephony and data / fax communication or two telephones.

Until December 31, 1995 there was a special tariff for a second analog telephone connection. The monthly basic price was only about half of the initial connection. Such a double connection had two separate phone numbers that could be entered individually in the phone book .

Since January 1, 1996, the reduced tariff for the second connection no longer exists, and since July 1, 1996, a double connection has been more expensive in terms of the basic fee than an ISDN connection , which has two user channels and at least three phone numbers. The increasing spread of digital telecommunications and ISDN made the double connection almost superfluous and is no longer part of the Telekom offer. However, existing connections could continue to be operated.
