Dora Puelma

Dora Puelma Francino de Fuenzalida (born March 22, 1898 in Antofagasta , † April 1, 1972 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter .

Puelma studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Santiago with Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor , Valenzuela Llanos , Juan Francisco González and Pablo Burchard Eggeling . She also took lessons from the sculptor Virginio Arias and studied at the École de Paris with André Lhote . As a student of Sotomayor, she belonged to the group of painters of the Generación del Trece . She taught at the Escuela de Bellas Artes , wrote columns for the magazines La Nación and El Mercurio and was one of the founding members ofSociedad de Nacional de Bellas Artes .

Puelma has received several awards for her works, which have been shown at several solo exhibitions in Santiago and a solo exhibition at the Instituto de Cultura Hispánica in Madrid. The Ministry of Education held a retrospective of works in 1977. The paintings Mañana de Primavera and Paisaje are owned by the Museo de Bellas Artes .
