Dorothy Good , also Dorcas Good (* ca. 1687 / 1688 in Salem , † unknown) was 4 or 5 years, the youngest of the accused in the Salem Witch Trials in the 1692nd

Life

Dorcas was the daughter of William and Sarah Good, the daughter of a French innkeeper. At the age of four or five, she was charged with witchcraft along with her pregnant mother . Some villagers claimed to have been repeatedly bitten by the child. In a brief trial, she was found guilty and detained. She testified that her mother gave her a snake that spoke to her and sucked blood from her finger. She pointed to her index finger, which had a snakebite-like wound the size of a flea bite. Dorcas was imprisoned for almost 9 months. In December 1692 she was ransomed.

Her mother Sarah Good gave birth to a daughter named Mercy in prison, who died shortly after the birth, probably from malnutrition and the harsh prison conditions. Sarah Good was found guilty and hanged on July 19, 1692.
