Doreen Montgomery (born April 12, 1913 in Glasgow , Scotland , † February 24, 1992 in London , United Kingdom ) was a British screenwriter .

Live and act

Doreen Montgomery studied art at the University of Edinburgh in the 1930s until she graduated with a Magister Artium . She then applied for scripts for the Associated British Picture Corporation and caught the attention of producer Walter C. Mycroft , who signed Montgomery. Montgomery's early screenwriting contributions provided cheap B-pictures . This was not to change until the middle of World War II when Montgomery switched to Gainsborough Pictures . There she landed several successes in quick succession with costume romances and melodramas, especially The Lord in Gray , Gaslight and Shadow and Cornwall Rhapsody - films that turned out to be big boxers. Montgomery's later work was far less successful. In the 1950s she wrote again only for B-films, since 1958 the Scot has been supplying TV series exclusively for a decade. In 1969 Doreen Montgomery retired from the film and television business.
