Dorf on Golf is an American golf satire from 1987 . Tim Conway plays the leading role as Dag Dorf, an alleged golf expert who has mastered the theories but not the technique of the game, and who also suffers from the minimal mental activity of his always bored caddy Leonard, played by Vincent Schiavelli . Dorf is short, speaks with a strange accent, which is explained by the fact that he is half-Scandinavian, and wears a toupee.

The film is the first in a series of six by Tim Conway with a village-themed sport- themed How to… series. The other parts are

  • Dorf's Golf Bible (1988),
  • Dorf and the First Games of Mount Olympus (1988),
  • Dorf Goes Auto Racing (1990),
  • Dorf Goes Fishing (1993) and
  • Village on the Diamond (1996).

action

"Dorf on Golf" is an instructional video for golf amateurs. With the help of Dorf they should learn how to play golf properly. Dorf is the champion according to the video. However, it has three problems: Firstly, it is very small, which is why it can only use special small clubs. Second, although he knows the theoretical secrets of golf's success, he cannot translate them into his technique and has rather moderate success. Third, his Caddy Leonard has no idea of Golf, including the terms that are used. He is also anything but intelligent, which has a negative impact on both his score and his health. His attempts to explain it on the map of the golf course are also difficult. The reason for this is Leonard's girlfriend Boom Boom. She never says anything and is not particularly intelligent either. For example, once she takes the whole board with the map when she is supposed to get out of the way of Dorf.
