from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The old town of Dorfen , a town in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding , was laid out from 1229 to 1237. It consists of four market squares of different lengths and widths, at the intersection of which the small market church of St. Veit rises, as well as a few connecting streets.

description

Marienplatz in the west is 85 m long and 40 m wide, Rathausplatz in the south is 130 m long and 20 to 35 m wide, Untere Markt in the east is 230 m long and 40 to 34 m wide, and Kirchtorplatz in the north is 40 m long and 30 m wide. From the medieval fortifications with ramparts (with palisades), moat and four gates, the Isener gate, the church gate and the Öttinger gate still exist. The Hague Gate was demolished around 1890. At this time the ramparts were removed and the moat was filled in and made as a footpath. Worth seeing town houses are: Zum Pollin , Gasthaus zum Jakobmayer , Waitl-Stubn (oldest building in Dorf, 14th century). The Marian column by Simon Geigenberger from Wasserburg is a foundation of the former Dorfner pastor Anton Schmittner. In 1998 the historically valuable, but completely run-down houses Diemer and Heilmeier were demolished and replaced by a modern shopping mall ( Marienhof ) with the Hotel Hotel & Apart4you, the former Hotel Marienhof, and Post. At the corner of Rathausplatz and Brandstattgasse is the Protestant community center with the Reconciliation Church , which was added to the east in 1991/92 . The so-called town hall pictures from the years 1686 to 1690 by the Bavarian court painter Kaspar Sing are located in the meeting room of the town hall. The themes of the pictures with predominantly religious motifs are: "Larus and the rich Prasser", "Maria and Martha", "The wedding at Cana ”,“ Christ before the Sanhedrin ”,“ The Last Things ”and“ Solomon's Judgment ”. To the south and north of the old town there are still small (historical) suburbs. In the north around the Johannisplatz with the remarkable brick villa , from which the stairs lead to the parish church, and in the south on Rosenaustraße / Haager Straße / Bahnweg with the old market forge at its intersection.

Market Church of St. Veit

The church is an early late Gothic building from 1390. It has a three-bay nave with a baroque flat plastered ceiling and a two- bay choir with a 3/8 end and Gothic barrel vault. The tall, slender tower (which is slightly inclined) with a baroque onion dome is attached to the west wall, to the north and south of it are shop extensions. There are two high baroque side altars (the northern one with the miraculous image from the broken Rinninger church) and a late baroque high altar (1730). The most valuable is the ceiling fresco with the historical depiction of the site from 1799. On the south wall of the nave (inside) are the figures of the Fourteen Holy Helpers with the Coronation of Mary from the broken church in Eibach.

  • Öttinger Tor , the only late Gothic gate in the village that has been preserved in its original state (with a half-hip roof).

Located a bit outside

  • St. Sebastian plague church , built around 1635 250 meters southwest on the plague cemetery at that time with a tower attached to the choir to the east. The nave has 3 yokes and the choir that has not been drawn in has 1 yoke and a semicircular end. In the interior barrel vaults with weak ribs, the late baroque choir altar dates from around 1730 with the sculpture of the church patron. Until the Reconciliation Church was built, the building served as an evangelical building. Church.
  • Etzkapelle , located 100 m east of the Isenkanal, is a building from 1706 with a rich baroque facade and graceful roof turrets. At the altar the miraculous image based on the Altöttinger Madonna.
