The village church in Altthymen , a district of the town of Fürstenberg / Havel in the Oberhavel district ( Brandenburg ), is the ruin of a former Evangelical-Lutheran parish church.

description

The Old Thymer village church was built in neo-Byzantine forms in 1872 according to plans by the Strelitz court builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel . It consists than threefold church semicircular apse , nave and narrow west tower.

In 1945 a Soviet grenade blind man broke through the church roof. In 1952 the nave was in ruins after a tree break. After renovation work, the tower and apse received new roofing after 2010, and the walls of the nave were also secured.

Today the church is owned by the commune. However, occasional services are still held in a room within the nave that was installed there in the early 1960s. Altthymen belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Fürstenberg / Havel, which is part of the Lutheran church district of Mecklenburg due to its historical affiliation to Strelitz. Therefore the place does not belong to any Brandenburg church district.
