Ruins of the Altthymen village church
|
Altthymen is a street village and part of the city of Fürstenberg / Havel . The settlement is not far from the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in a wooded area. 115 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2014) live in Altthymen on an area of 9.01 km².
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1299 when Margrave Albrecht III. von Brandenburg donated the monastery Lehnin to the foundation of a Cistercian daughter monastery ( Kloster Himmelpfort ), among other things, Groß Thymen (Magna Thymen) and the mill, today's Altthymen. The village briefly belonged to Mecklenburg from 1314 to 1440 . Altthymen has probably been settled since the late Bronze Age. This is at least suggested by the discovery of a bronze sword, the "Sword of Altthymen", in 1850.
Altthymen has been part of the town of Fürstenberg / Havel since it was incorporated on October 26, 2003 .

Culture and sights
The ruins of the brick church from 1872, Gut Mühlenhof (today "Haus Altthymen") and the forest castle Dahmshöhe (today "Haus Dahmshöhe") are well worth seeing . The Thymenfließ or Mühlenfließ flows through Altthymen.
The listed ruin of the village church was built according to plans by the grand ducal master builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel . The roof of the nave is destroyed. In the church ruins there is a small room that is used by the city of Fürstenberg / Havel as a branch of the registry office.
