Half-timbered church Bredereiche
|
Bredreiche is a district of the city of Fürstenberg / Havel in the north of the state of Brandenburg . Until 2003 Bredereiche was an independent municipality . The area of the district is 22.67 km².
geography
Bredreiche borders in the north on the Fürstenberg district of Himmelpfort , in the east on the town of Lychen , in the south on the Fürstenberg districts Barsdorf and Blumenow and in the west on the town of Gransee and the Fürstenberg district Zootzen . Bredreiche is about nine kilometers away from the center of the city of Fürstenberg / Havel. The district is traversed by the Havel over a length of two kilometers . The river divides Bredereiche into the former Regelsdorf and the village center. To the east lies the Himmelpforter Heide forest area . Bredereiche has a share in the Kleine Schorfheide nature reserve .
history
1307 the place is mentioned for the first time as a monastery village of the Cistercian monastery Himmelpfort . In 1317 the Margrave of Brandenburg donated the Regelsdorf west of the Havel to Bredereiche. After the abbey in Himmelpfort was dissolved, Bredereiche was pledged to Hans von Armin in 1541 and only handed over to the electoral councilor Adam von Trott in 1551 as a pledge and from 1557 as an inheritance. In 1574, 21 citizens lived in Bredereiche. Only one family survived the Thirty Years War (1618–1648). The church and all the houses were destroyed.
In 1687 the reconstruction of the place began and in 1689 the consecration of the rebuilt church took place. When the von Trott family died out, Bredereiche fell to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I in 1727 and was administered by the Badingen office. The construction of the first lock in 1737 laid the foundation for the development of the town into a boatman's village. In 1915 there were 54 ship owners in Bredereiche. However, the last bargee stopped operating his motor ship in 1990.
Bredreiche was incorporated into Fürstenberg / Havel on October 26, 2003.

Culture and sights
The village church was built in 1689 on the ground of the former village green. The half-timbered building rests on a visible solid field stone plinth, which already served as the foundation of an earlier church. The church has a richly decorated gable triangle on the east gable with four St. Andrew's crosses. On the west gable there is a half-timbered arched door and numerous knobs . The Bredreich church is an example of typical Brandenburg half-timbered construction.
The Dutch windmill was built in 1903/1904 and decommissioned in 1968. A partial reconstruction took place later.
Economy and Infrastructure
The first lock Bredereiche was built in 1737/39. The barrage improved the conditions for shipping and rafting. A more modern lock was built parallel to the old lock from 1950 to 1952. For this purpose, a new 400 m long canal bed was excavated parallel to the old Havel. A height difference of 3.20 m is compensated with a combination of mortise and lifting gate . In the place of the old lock there is now a hydropower plant for generating electricity.
