The Dennewitz village church is a monument in the Niedergörsdorf district of Dennewitz in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg . The village church is raised in the churchyard, which is framed by a brick and field stone wall. Today the church belongs to the evangelical parish of Borgisdorf , a district of the municipality of Niederer Fläming . The right of patronage lay with the sovereign.

history

In 1174 a priest "Fridericus de Danewiz" is mentioned, so it is assumed that there was already a previous building. The church is a Gothic hall building made of field stone. The construction time was probably in the second half of the 13th century or around 1300. The tower was built in the 14th or possibly in the 15th century. During the Thirty Years' War the church served as an emergency shelter, poor residents lived here with their cattle. In 1686 the church partially burned down, but the exact damage is no longer known. The tower was rebuilt from 1714 to 1716. At that time it was given its current shape with an octagonal structure with a curved hood and a lantern. During construction in 1715, a storm threw the tip onto the roof of the church, which was damaged in the process. The hood was damaged in a lightning strike in 1724 and had to be replaced again. Further renovations took place from 1817 to 1818. From 1856 to 1859 the east wall was renewed and the nave was extended by a window axis. At the same time the flat arch windows were built. In the current time there were further renovations in 1860, 1961, 1966 and 1995.

The church

The church is a hall building made of field stone with a west tower. The tower of the church has no connection to the church, on the south side there is a portal to the tower. The masonry in the upper part of the tower is irregular, so that an increase in the tower is assumed in the late Middle Ages. The tower and the curly dome with lantern were added from 1714 to 1716.

Inside there is a baroque pulpit altar from 1730, which is made of sandstone. On the altar is the structure with the pulpit, this basket is between columns. On the back there is a painting with the crucifixion. Next to the pillars are Moses and Christ as shepherds. In the base of the altar there is a sacrament niche from the late Gothic period. On the back of the altar is a niche with an iron door from the beginning of the 16th century.

Baptism dates from the 17th century. On a cylindrical base is a sandstone cup with inscription and a leaf wreath, although the base is not the original. The floating baptismal lid no longer exists either. The organ was built in 1928 by the Schuke company , the work was renewed in 1996. The pastor's chair, perhaps also a confessional, was created in the first half of the 18th century. This pastor's chair is lavishly designed.
