The Protestant village church Ehrenstein is located in the Ehrenstein district of the city of Stadtilm in the Ilm district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish office in Griesheim Kirchenkreis Arnstadt-Ilmenau the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

location

The church is located inside the cemetery on an eastward sloping hill on the western edge of the village of Ehrenstein. The castle Ehrenstein and the deserted village Teichmann village were directly connected by a path. Eye contact was also possible from the castle to the church.

history

The church in Ehrenstein is a choir tower church from the 13th century that has been rebuilt several times . On November 30, 1217 Ehrenstein (Tichmannestorph) was first mentioned in a document. Ehrenstein Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1274. It can be assumed that the church was built around this time.
