Groß Lübbenau village church

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The village church Groß Lübbenau was a Protestant church in the village Groß Lübbenau , southeast of Lübbenau / Spreewald in Brandenburg . It was demolished for an open- cast brown coal mine .

The church was built between 1821 and 1824 in the classical style according to plans by Carl August Benjamin Siegel as an octagonal hall. The nave was covered by a tent roof. The church tower stood on the side of the ship. The inauguration took place on November 15, 1824. Shortly before the end of the open pit, the church was blown up in 1988.

Some pieces of equipment have been preserved. An altarpiece from 1824 with the Nazarene painting Gang nach Emmaus is located, as is the baptism, in a small replacement building in the town of Groß Lübbenau, which has not been demolished in parts. The wooden altar crucifix from the 18th century, the pulpit, a baptismal angel from the 18th century and two bells from 1930 also remained on site.

A tomb of Juliana von Wolffersdorf , who died as a child in 1627 , daughter of the noble and strict Ulrich von Wolffersdorf , was moved to the Sankt Nikolai Church in Lübbenau.
