The Evangelical Lutheran village church Großmecka is a little off the village road in the district Großmecka the community Nobitz in Altenburger Land in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish of Gieba in the Altenburger Land parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The village church is a choir tower church , which was originally provided with a small semicircular apse . The nave and the cross vaults in the choir bay were built around 1510. Since then, she has seen changes both inside and out. On April 29, 1753 she was struck by lightning. After the fire, repairs became necessary, especially on the tower structure and the flat ceiling. A restoration was completed in 1990.

The furnishings date from the first half of the 17th century. The organ is a work by Karl Ernst Poppe from 1859 with five stops on a manual and pedal .

The bells in the tower are from 1510 and 1678.
