Hohenferchesar village church

The church in the village of Hohenferchesar is a hall church and is located in the center of what is now the district of the city of Havelsee . It has no name.

history

The church village of Verchiezere was first mentioned in a document in 1186. The Bishop of Brandenburg confirmed extensive property ownership to the cathedral chapter in the document. Parts of it were the Hohenferchesars church, which belonged to the Burgward Pritzerbe. It was a predecessor of today's church.

The current village church was consecrated in 1831 after the previous building burned down completely on March 29, 1827. In 1950, a lightning strike caused considerable damage to the structure, which could be repaired by 1951.

Building

The church is a simple plastered building with a windowless three-sided choir and a narrow square west tower with a pyramid top. The windows in the nave and tower are unadorned rectangular lattice windows that are framed with bezels . The nave has three large rectangular windows on the north and south sides. The roof was worked as a hipped roof towards the east . There is an unadorned door in the eastern outer wall of the choir. The corners of the two north-east and south-east walls of the choir, which are angled 45 degrees to the east wall, are supported by buttresses .

The tower clock from 1891 has a dial on the south and east side and a rectangular window below. On the sheet metal covered pyramid-shaped roof, which tapers upwards, there is also a pyramid-shaped roof turret in the form of a roof helmet with an attachment with a tower ball and wind vane . Further windows can be found on the north and west side without a tower clock.

inventory

On the east side of the church there is a wooden pulpit altar from the first half of the 19th century. Part of this is a choir gallery . A small modern organ is located on the simply designed horseshoe-shaped west gallery . A brass chandelier dates from 1885, the baptismal font from 1888. The church treasures include a richly decorated gold-plated silver chalice from the early 17th century, set with precious stones.
