Mieste village church

The village church Mieste is the Protestant church in the Altmark village of Mieste in Saxony-Anhalt .

The church was built in 1884. In that year, the sandstone tower was built in the Rhenish Romanesque style. In relation to the nave, which was built at the end of the 19th century, the tower is larger in proportion than is otherwise customary in church construction.

The half-timbered nave has three naves. Inside there is a horseshoe gallery . The ceiling of the central nave is vaulted, the side aisles have a flat ceiling. The organ prospectus dates from 1905 and was created by Wilhelm Rühlmann (senior).

A war memorial created by Hermann Hosaeus is located near the church . In addition, there is a monument in memory of Bartholomaeus Rieseberg, who was born in Mieste and who became known as the reformer of the Altmark .
