Moltzahn village church

The village church in Moltzahn, a district of Borrentin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is a historic church building from the 17th century. It is a church belonging to the Protestant parish in Kummerow and is only used occasionally for church services.

The church is a rectangular stone building with brick gables. Field stones , medieval hewn stones and broken bricks were used to build the church , so that it was probably built from the remains of demolished buildings or a possible previous building. The church received its present form in the 19th century through neo-Gothic renovations of the door and windows. The original furnishings with the pulpit altar and patronage box were removed during a renovation in the 1960s. The historical furnishings that have been preserved are limited to the pulpit from the earlier pulpit altar and a late medieval crucifix on the altar. In the modern, free-standing belfry in front of the church hangs a historic bell that was cast by Joachim Metzger in Stralsund in 1730. The church is surrounded by the cemetery.
